Pet Diagnostics
When a pet is sick, injured, or showing changes in behavior, appetite, energy, or comfort, diagnostics can help us better understand what may be happening and recommend the next step in care.
Helping Us Understand Your Pet’s Health
Athens Animal Clinic provides diagnostic services for dogs and cats in Athens, TX. Diagnostic testing helps our veterinary team look beyond what can be seen during a physical exam, giving us valuable information about your pet’s health.
Digital Radiographs (X-Rays)
Digital radiographs, often called X-rays, allow us to evaluate areas such as the bones, chest, abdomen, and other internal structures. These images can be helpful when assessing injuries, certain illnesses, changes in mobility, or other health concerns.
Digital radiographs can be reviewed promptly and shared when appropriate.
Pet Ultrasound
Ultrasound is another diagnostic tool that can help us evaluate internal organs and soft tissues. This type of imaging can provide useful information when a pet has symptoms that require a closer look at what is happening inside the body.
Our team will explain when ultrasound may be recommended and what we are looking for.
Routine Bloodwork
Bloodwork helps us evaluate important aspects of your pet’s internal health. It may be recommended during wellness visits, before certain procedures, for senior pets, or when a dog or cat is not feeling well.
Routine bloodwork can help us screen for changes that may not be obvious from the outside.
In-House Laboratory Testing
Athens Animal Clinic offers in-house laboratory testing to help provide timely information about your pet’s health. Faster results can help our team make more informed recommendations and respond promptly to your pet’s needs.
Dental Radiography and Cytology
Dental radiography helps us evaluate your pet’s oral health above and below the gumline. Cytology allows our team to examine cells under a microscope, which can help guide treatment recommendations for certain skin, ear, lump, or infection-related concerns.
